Drug & Alcohol Detox Program in
When a person uses a substance for an extended period of time, his or her body becomes accustomed to the presence of that drug and/or alcohol. If that person then attempts to stop using the substance, his or her body must readjust to functioning without it. This readjustment process, which can be extremely uncomfortable, is known as withdrawal. Often the first step of treatment when a person arrives at A New Today Addiction Centers, is the process of detoxification, or detox. During drug & alcohol detox, a client undergoes a carefully monitored withdrawal from any substances that he or she has been using.
Withdrawal from certain substances can be dangerous if not managed properly, so it is critical that the process happen while each client is in the care of a medical team. Medical personnel can monitor each client’s withdrawal process and administer medications as necessary to alleviate as much discomfort as possible. Depending on the substances a person had been using, as well as the length and extent of use, detox treatment can take anywhere between one and fourteen days, though the program typically lasts three to five days.
As a detoxification center with over 25 years of experience, we, at A New Today Addiction Centers, understand how to make each client’s withdrawal process as comfortable and safe as possible while they attend our detox program. During detox, our clients are provided with 24-hour nursing care, and each client will meet with our staff physician within 24 to 48 hours of admission. We believe that total sobriety is the most effective path to recovery, so clients in our alcohol & drug detox program are detoxed from all controlled substances.
